NOTICE TO DOG OWNERS

The Town of Encampment requires that your dog be registered with the town.

The Town of Encampment holds a vaccination clinic in January or February of each year as a way for residents to have a wellness check done on their dog (or cat) and get a vaccination or other shots for their animals. Veterinary fees do apply.


TOWN OF ENCAMPMENT HAS ORDINANCES TO CONTROL DOGS WITHIN THE TOWN LIMIT.

PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW YOUR DOG TO RUN AT LARGE AND BECOME A NUISANCE!!

6.08.050 - Duty of owners to prevent dogs from becoming nuisances. It is unlawful for any owner to fail to exercise proper care and control of his or her dogs to prevent them from becoming a public nuisance. Excessive, continuous or untimely barking, molesting passers-by, chasing vehicles, habitually attacking other domestic animals, trespassing upon school grounds, or trespassing upon private property in such a manner as to damage property, shall be deemed a nuisance. (Prior code § 2-105)

6.08.070 - Running at large prohibited. It shall be unlawful to allow any dog, bitch or whelp which is vicious to run at large within the corporate limits of the town. (Prior code § 2-106)

Registration and proof of vaccination are also required by ordinance. A complete copy of the entire ordinance governing dogs is available at the town hall.

Please be advised that complaints about dogs at large will be acted on. Depending on the circumstance owners will receive one warning then they will be cited and fined for each incident.

If an officer does not witness the violation, complainants will be asked to sign the complaint and to appear in court.

If you witness a dog violation, please call dispatch at 307 326-8316 and they will notify the proper agency.

THERE WILL BE NO TOLERANCE FOR VICIOUS ANIMALS!!!
